OWNERSHIP

UCT Buea is an autonomous private educational investment with its own constituted owners and full financial and management independence. The present owner is Modern Consultants Ltd. a computing, communications and engineering tertiary company, B.P 12284 Yaoundé , PMB 63 Buea, Tel: 33 00 97 21, Cell: 77 73 39 87.

 

PARTNERSHIP

UCT Buea is in a partnership with the University of Buea and University of Yaounde I. It is a member of the Guild of Anglo-Saxon Private Higher Institutions in Cameroon (GAPHIC). Its Campuses are in Great Soppo Buea.

 

BACKGROUND

The University College of Technology Buea (UCT) is a specialized private university of technology located in Buea, Southwest Province of Cameroon. It offers tertiary education training in all fields of engineering, information and Communications Technology (ICT), Business Computing and Contemporary Management studies. It trains at all levels in all disciplines offered, Certificates, HPD, BSc, BEng, Postgraduate Diplomas, MSc, MEng, MBA, PhD. UCT’s technology drive is fueled by reunited Cameroonian engineers from the diaspora with support from seasoned academics at home, South Africa, India, Nigeria, Europe and North America. Technology is the driving force behind modern economies and UCT is designed to be the engine of that driving force in the extended Central and Sub-Saharan sub region.

 

PURPOSE AND FOCUS

The purpose of UCT is to bridge the digital divide between Africa and Europe, Asia and North America. It strives to foster the sustainable transfer of technology from North to South and to alleviate the adverse effects of globalization. UCT will produce graduates who will, adopt, use innovate and proliferate technology and engineering and business disciplines for development ends. It focuses on the crucial aspects of contemporary development for Cameroon and all countries of the South. It will train students in both academic and professional schemes who will fill the void of technology expertise in the country.

 

IDEOLOGY

UCT BUEA mandates itself to provide quality and appropriate education in contemporary technology to generations of Cameroonians and Africans. It plans to do so in a purely professional, production and academic context such that its graduates will be at the forefront of all development processes in the continent. Its programmes are tailored to be the best in the continent in the following aspects:

Graduating Content

The minimum cumulative graduating content is 130 units for 6 semester programmes, 160 for 8 semester programmes. These extra units translate into more teaching hours and more taught areas. It gives the programmes enough time to be enriched in depth and breadth. It also gives enough room for practical training aspects to be covered.
